Hi guys, My name is Stephen Freeman. I live in Madison, AL. I own a 2004 S. I bought it new to autocross. 4 Championships later the car still rocks. I have 114000 miles on it. So far I replaced a water bottle and a power steering hose. Great car. I wont even mention how many sets of tires and brake pads I have gone through! HA.  I met one of your members in 04 at an autocross school. (Kerry please come up and race sometime. I will even offer to pay the entry fee one time) The Tennessee Vally Region SCCA is having an autocross this Saturday 6/12/10 and an advanced school on Sunday. I use to compete against Coopers all of the time. Lately I am the only one. I hope one or all of yall can come up and enjoy our hospitality.

Hi Stephen,

I'm up in Florence, AL not too far from you.  Bought my 07 MCS about a year ago and can't see myself ever getting tired of it!!  Wish I had seen this earlier, I'd love to take you up on your offer of seeing you guys next time you race.  I had never heard of autocross until I read the introduction post by Kerry on here.  I started reading about it and it sounds like a lot of fun.  Looks like you guys would be the closest to me but getting kind of confused on your club website on whether I should check out TVR or Twickenham.  Me and a friend (who hopes to get a MINI soon) are interested but both of us are complete novices and never done anything like autocross before.  It sounded like TVR was for more advance and Twickenham for beginners maybe?  What do you think.

Hey Kevin, There are a lot of events in the South. Our Club. TAC and TVR are sister clubs. We run two series. It just basic autocross. I have always been impressed with the way new drivers are treated. They have a "novice" instructor. He has a novice walk through and will ride with you or you can ride with him. I recommend showing up and hanging out. People are glad to give rides. Warning it may be additive. Check on our calendar. Get there early so you can understand whats is going on. You are welcome to ride with me anytime. Bring a hat, sunscreen and a cooler. We even have "loaner" helmets.  Or even better jump in with both feet. Leave the car stock and concentrate on being smooth. It really not that hard on a car.

Hey Y'all!
My name is Will. My wife and I just picked up a 2004 Mini Cooper a few days ago.  As far as I know it's stock, 50K miles, automatic.  We've already taken it on a quick trip to Louisiana and back over the weekend - about 800 miles.  I ride motorcycles and love the camaraderie we have with other riders, but was unaware the same existed in the mini world!  This is exciting to me.  I had a hint when the day after we bought the mini, I met another, the same color scheme, along the road in Millbrook. First thing we did was wave to each other. We are excited to find you all here and hope to join in some rides and gain some knowledge about the mini.  We are absolute newbies in the mini world....except, we're kinda mini!!! :bg
Here are some pics of our "new to us" mini.

Millbrook!  We were just up there last week checking out the Smoke House Bar-B-Que.  My wife and I are both retired and make a bar-b-que run every couple of weeks or so.  One of my favorite drives is just above you.  US 31 south of Clanton, to AL 143, and AL 111, into Wetumpka.  Also, AL 14, and Elmore County 4 and 8 to Tallassee.

Part of our motoring includes "MINI Spotting".  I've seen fifty+ in and around Montgomery -- six that live within half a mile of our house!

I'll be watching for you on the road.

I see a few around here myself.  I haven't been to the smokehouse since it reopened.  I'll have to try it out. I do know the roads you speak of.  I've traveled them many times on my motorcycle.  My wife and I will be hitting some on our way to Morgan Creek Winery this Saturday.  We'll be going for the picnic, music, and fireworks.  It's our 34th anniversary Saturday, so we've decided this would be a lot of fun.  I'll be looking for you out and around.
